LOCAL MOVES
Local moving can involve moving just a few items within the same building or an entire home or business across town. We are able to provide you with a wide variety of services that you require as we are flexible to meet all of your moving needs. _________________________________________________________________
A FULL SERVICE MOVE INVOLVES:
- the packing of all of your smaller possesions into cartons
- full disassembly of such items as bed frames and mirrors on dressers
- the loading of all cartons and furnishings into our moving vans
- the placement of all of your furnishings in their new location in their new home along with all of the cartons in the room of your choice
- reassembly of all items that we disassembled
- unpacking all of the cartons that were packed for you and removing all packing material.
This move is generally conducted over a two-day period (size dependant) and is charged at an hourly rate based on the manpower required. _________________________________________________________________
A PARTIAL MOVE INVOLVES:
- loading all of your furnishings (blanket wrapped) and cartons that you have already packed
- the delivery of these items directly into your new home in the room of your choice.
_________________________________________________________________ Listed below are typical home sizes and the average amount of time it takes (on average) to complete a move. This includes 15 minutes travel to and from your home, loading and unloading time with average access to both pick up and destination locations. Based on two men and a truck:
SIZE OF HOME....APPROXIMATE HOURS.......WEIGHT 1 bedroom..........3 to 4 hours.................2500 - 3000 lbs 2 bedroom..........5 to 6 hours.................4000 - 6000 lbs 3 bedroom..........7 to 8 hours.................7000 - 9000 lbs 4 bedroom..........8 to 10 hours...............10,000 - 12000 lbs 5 bedroom..........+10 hours...................+13,000 lbs
Basically, we charge from the time we leave the yard until we return and we are in Esquimalt, which is located approximately 10 minutes from downtown Victoria. All of our moves are calculated to the nearest quarter hour. MAP
This is the most common type of move our clients choose. The main reason for this is because it will easily suit your individual needs. If you need us to disassemble and reassemble mirrors on dresssers, bed frames, legs on dining room tables, or desks, we are fully equipped to assist. If, for example, you choose to disassemble and and reassemble these items yourself, you save time which results in a lower cost to you.
Moving outside Victoria?
If you are moving outside the Victoria area (to or from) anywhere on Vancouver Island or surrounding islands, simply add $20 per hour for travel time that we are on the highway to assist in fuel costs. For example, for a move to Courtney, you will be charged 3 hours to and 3 hours from = 6 hours X $20 = $120 for fuel. Please also include the estimated time for your move (listed above) and add ferry fees where applicable. If you are relocating to or from Vancouver or the interior of B.C., we will charge on a per pound basis.

Remember to book your local move as far in advance as possible, especially if you are moving mid-month or at month end. These time periods are the most popular and book quickly. Although local moving is charged on an hourly rate, firm quotes can be provided for larger moves that occur between the 3rd and 27th of each month. Need a free estimate? MOVING TIPS: Listed below is a brief outline of things you can do to speed up the moving process for us, resulting in a lower cost to you:
- Package all of your small items into cartons and label each carton based on the room you would like the carton to be moved into in your new home (Example: Kitchen)
- Check all cupboards, closets, crawl spaces and attics and make sure everything is removed from these areas and placed into the main areas of your home.
- Place all of your cartons in one area (preferred) in your home or place them in stacks in the room in whichthey were packed. This speeds the loading process up because our movers are able to load the cartons onto a dolly quickly and remove them from your home.
- In your bedrooms, leave clothes in your dresser drawers, disassemble your beds including frames, and remove mirrors from your dressers. Remove the legs from your dining room table.
- Beware of any furniture pruchased during your stay at the residence (Example: a 3 piece corner desk)that has been assembled in the room which it currently in. You may need to disassemble it, so we are able to move it through doorways. Tight turns in the hallway also may result in the article to require disassembly. By following these simple steps, you can substantially decrease the amount of time it is going to take for your relocation. For a full range of packing tips, click below.
